Akakura Kanko Hotel was founded in 1937. It is a pioneer of resort hotels in Japan, built by the Okura Zaibatsu of the time, following the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel and Kawana Hotel. The hotel is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, and a sea of clouds can be seen below. In addition to the charm of the hotel that has remained unchanged since its establishment, all rooms and the Japanese restaurant were renovated in 2008. In addition, on December 12, 2009, a large bath with an open-air bath, a spa salon, and guest rooms with an open-air hot spring were newly built and opened.
